“To Our Leaders”
The most offensive ad of modern times is on television right now. It is seen in millions of
American homes as people watch the news or their favorite shows. It is played all the time on cable,
which must cost hundreds of thousands of dollars for the air time. It goes like this:
“To our Leaders
Free Us
Free Us from our Addiction to Oil
Free Us from Gas (prices given in rising dollar amounts flash on the screen)
Save Our Economy
Save Us from this Climate Crisis
Give Us Truly Clean Energy
Use the Wind
Use the Sun
We Demand that We Use Them
We Demand that We Repower America
There is a Solution
There is no Time to Waste
We Want a Better Future
We Demand a Better Future
We the American People Are No Longer Asking
Give Us 100% Clean Energy Within 10 Years “
Paid for by the Alliance for Climate Protection
Who is this ad aimed at? We’re sorry. We are Americans. We don’t have “leaders.” We have
elected representatives. They work for us citizens, not the other way around. We are not serfs
demanding better treatments of our noble lords. We hope our representatives have leadership
abilities, but the jobs they possess we hired them to do. We don’t obey them. Every four to six years
we can vote them out if we want to. They are temps, not entitled elites. But that is the way the
makers of this ad come across. "We the People" are now "We the Subordinates."
When the ad copy is shown in the commercial with the music and the windmills and the couple
sitting on the couch, it doesn't immediately strike a person as fascist or socialist. But as presented
above it would look just at home on the wall of a government school in Cuba or North Korea as it
does in print here. You can watch the ad online at www.wecansolveit.org. It is a slick ad. It is so
good the site claims that 1,578,800 people have signed their petition. If accurate, then over a million
and a half American citizens believe the Federal Government is responsible for power and should be
in charge of providing energy to America. Just as they now believe the government should provide
health care. Socialism has made great strides in the American public mind. The group states it’s
founder is Al Gore. No surprise there. He has quite a moneymaker going with the climate change
hoax.
So to point out a few quibbles with the ad above:
1. You don’t have to free us from anything. If the Democratic Party and environmental extremists
would stop blocking drilling, mining, nuclear, and refining, we wouldn't be addicted to anything
foreign.
2. Our Economy and gas prices are because of restrictions in domestic energy development-
aggravated by the second highest corporate taxes in the world and an entitlement mentality from
liberal legislators.
3. There is no climate crisis! In fact the Earth has cooled in the last five years. Turns out it was
the sun after all. Heating and cooling cycles are normal and natural and have existed through all of
recorded history.
4. “Give us” Where did that come from? What do they have to give? The government is a body of
the people, by the people, and for the people. It generates no revenue, so they have nothing to
‘give.’ They can only take from people and give it to others. Private enterprises generate power.
Private companies run the economy, not the government!
5. “Use the Wind” Except the wind doesn't always blow. The wind doesn't always blow the right
speed. Because it doesn't, it can only provide at best, 20% of our energy needs. The 20% cap is
because conventional power generators have to be on standby and ready to take the load for when
the wind dies down. It makes wind expensive. So the government must give the companies money
in the form of subsidies before those companies can afford to produce wind energy they then must
charge you more for. Wind isn't economical.
6. “Use the Sun” Sure. Why not? Only present technology is inefficient and that means expensive.
Surely you can’t object to paying more, can you? Your ‘leaders’ think that way. As Joe Biden so
recently pointed out, paying more taxes is patriotic. Solar is a potential winner to supply a great
portion of our energy. But not by subsidy. Grant tax credits to companies that can reduce the cost of
the solar generation and let solar compete on a level playing field.
7. ‘We Want’ and ‘We Demand’. Oh, really? If that is the case the majority of Americans want to
drill and mine and build nuclear and build refineries and drill in ANWAR and have lower costs of
goods services, and tax burdens. So that must be fine with Al Gore if ‘We Want’ and ‘We Demand’
is the standard.
8. “We the American People are No Longer Asking.” Speak for yourself. You don’t speak for
America, other than 1,578,800 people who now believe socialism is the foundation of the American
governmental system.
The ad is the most offensive because it was designed by people who felt they should be in charge of
your lives. They believe you are subordinate to their views. This is a new type of aristocracy, one
of the privileged. The ad is most offensive because it is patently and fatally un-American.
