Echoes of the Past- Chinagate revisited.
Go up to a liberal Democrat and asked them what should happen to a fifty something year old CEO
of a local large company who was having a twenty one year old secretary perform sex acts on him in
his office during working hours. Tell them the CEO is married and has been accused in the past of
similar acts. One of those acts resulted in the accusation of sexual harassment. Tell them the CEO
has lied to the local media about the event but you have proof that he did it. Tell them the CEO has
a daughter about that age. Their response to your question would be to call for the CEO’s privileged
head on a silver platter- lined with a bed of sexual harassment payouts. Agree. Then tell them you
were actually talking about former President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Watch the gears in
their brains clash as they mentally turn completely around and then begin to defend his actions, or
dismiss them as unimportant in the larger scheme of things.
The best thing that ever happened to Bill and Hillary Clinton was Monica Lewinsky. The press and
liberals everywhere were galvanized into action to save the President, the darling of the left. The
moral relativism of “it was just sex” was the mantra, even if it meant defending a proven liar and
serial philanderer. Clinton grabbed a Bible, (borrowed, I’m sure.) NOW and other feminists rallied to
his aid. The impeachment ground down to ineffectual accusations and inside the beltway scheming
that left America with a bad taste in its mouth and Arkansas jokes on late night T.V. To this day the
former president is remembered as a great man by the left. Flawed, but a victim. If he couldn’t
keep his pants zipped, nonetheless, he was the done in by the dirty politics by those on the right. He
has the legend of a great presidency smeared forever by intolerant moralists.
The problem with all of this is that the President Clinton was impeached for the wrong crime. The
whole country was concentrating on a stained blue dress when it should have been concentrating on
nuclear weapons secrets, exporting missile technology, and the connections between Chinese
intelligence agents, cold hard cash, and the Democratic Party machine headed by Clinton and his
wife.
Prior to the Clinton White House China did not have capable intercontinental ballistic missiles, a
manned space program, or access to up to the date nuclear weapons information. By the time he
had left office they had up to date missiles that could hit anywhere in the United States and advanced
space program that resulted in their first man in space in 2003. They enjoyed advanced access to
military technology and stole more through relaxed security. This was managed by the transfer of
export controls from the State Department to the Commerce Department. Then, technology that
was previously forbidden for export went overseas. The seminal example is of McDonnell –
Douglas. They sold a hi tech plant to China under these relaxed conditions and Chinese workers
packed the whole plant up and shipped it to China where it was diverted from commercial
manufacturing to plants producing military technology. In return, contributions rolled in to the DNC
coffers from front men for the Chinese Government. They made donations in the millions and China
got the technology.
Many people now only vaguely remember the incident. The new age crop of voters are unaware of
this recent history. Almost anyone on the street knows the name “Lewinsky”. But mention Charlie
Trie and people will not know if you are talking about the newest Asian martial arts movie star, or
the owner of the local Chinese restaurant. The Internet was not the powerhouse during the Clinton
era it is today. The liberal press was not hungry for the story. Information is now available to
everyone that could, in the past, be controlled. Run the names: Yah Lin “Charles” Trie, Johnny
Chung, Wang Jun, John Huang, James Riady, Maria Hsia, The Hsi Lai Temple, Chinagate, Ted
Sioeng, Mat Fong, and now Norman Hsu. For those young enough not to remember Chinagate, the
results are troubling. In the Wickpedia entry there is an indication the Justice Department buried and
hindered the investigation. (If you find Wickpedia a questionable source, access the reference
sections and go to the original source material. Like all Internet information, verify.) From their
entry of the report by Charles La Bella to Attorney General Janet Reno he wrote:”[A] pattern [of
events] suggests a level of knowledge within the White House- including the President’s and First
Lady’s offices- concerning the injection of foreign funds into the reelection effort.”…”If these
allegations involved anyone other than the president, vice president, senior White House or DNC and
Clinton-Gore ’96 officials, an appropriate investigation would have commenced months ago without
hesitation.” The heat was strong enough, and the potential damage was great enough, that all stops
were pulled to frustrate the investigation. Many people fled back to mainland China and others
refused to testify. This led to the wholesale effort by the administration to eliminate the connections.
Jamie Gorelick, of the 9/11 Commission infamy, was used at the Justice Department to sever the
working relationships between the FBI and the intelligence services. This insulation was to protect
the DNC and Bill and Hillary Clinton, but had the unintended effect of blinding us to other threats.
The infamous “wall” erected to protect those two, and Vice President Gore, led up to the intelligence
failures of 9/11. Had there been no restriction on the sharing of information among the services, it is
arguable that 9/11 never would have happened. But it would have also meant that evidence would
have been available to prove the financial connections between the Clintons and the PRC. The need
for the “wall” between the services to begin with can only be explained by the need to cover up the
connections. It is still beyond me how one of the main people that should have been testifying before
the 9/11 committee, Jamie Gorelick, instead ended up on the committee.
In the end it was plain that President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and the First Lady, Hillary
Clinton had seemingly sold our national security out from under us in return for cash. Had Bill been
able to keep his hands off the help that might have been the story of the century as the focus would
have been on Buddhist nuns burning donor lists and agents of the PLA (Peoples Liberation Army)
fleeing back to China. Impeachment on the floor of the House would have been for the high crime
of treason and the trial in the Senate would have featured bank drafts, oval office meetings with
agents of foreign governments, and envelopes of cash. Instead we have a blue dress stained with
semen and the righteous indignation of liberals who demand no accountability in personal morality.
These same liberals are bent now on returning the Clintons to the White House.
We also have Norman Hsu, who donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Hillary Clinton and
the DNC. Money that is quickly being returned as Democratic operatives hope sincerely that Mr.
Hsu is a thief and a con man who wanted to be on the inside of the next corrupt administration, and
not one with ties to the Peoples Republic of China. The Internet is far more advanced than it was
during the first Clinton administration. As for Mrs. Clinton’s lack of interest in who Mr. Hsu was,
and where did he get his money; how did Mrs. Clinton put it recently the Patreus hearing? “I think
that the reports that you provide to us really require the willing suspension of disbelief.” With the
past history of the involvement of contributions from agents of the Communist Chinese Government
you would think that Senator Clinton would have been a bit more careful of making Mr. Hsu a
"Hillraiser" and posing with him for photo ops. It can only be guessed that with the past collusion by
the press the senator figured no one would dare call attention to the connection.
You have to agree. What is stunning is that this is getting reported at all. Recently on Drudge was
the hint as to why it made the press. It is reported that operatives on the Obama campaign leaked
the Hsu story. Not all liberals are solid behind Clinton. There are liberals in the press who prefer
Obama. This split in the solidarity of the press is why the story has legs. It will be interesting to see
if the past dealings with Chinagate are repeated with Mr. Hsu as more information on the sources of
his money becomes clear.
