                                                               Perspective

Last year I spent my vacation reading
The Vampire Economy on the beach.  The book was written
in 1939 and covered the National Socialism of Germany and it’s parasitism of private industry prior to
World War Two.  I could see the coming wave of Democratic Socialism being sold here and with the
November elections the delivery of the 'hope and change' brought the whole package.  History repeats
itself and there truly is nothing new under the sun.

In the months following that vacation I contacted and sent proposals to every capitalist I could find
that wasn't enamored of Socialism or wasn't maneuvering to be the last one eaten.  Just as I had been
contacting them since November of 2006 when I wanted to pursue the corruption of the abortion
industry and all levels of government here in the state of Kansas from local district attorneys right up to
the governor’s office.

This year I went on vacation and I didn't watch the news.  I didn't listen to the radio.  I didn't check
my email.  I didn't look for stories on the web.  I didn't read about politics.   I went to the beach with
my family and in the slow spots read
Two Years before the Mast and A Stillness at Appomattox.  I
walked on the beach and picked up sea shells.  I swam in the ocean and managed, through diligent
application of sun block including on the top of my thinning head, to avoid sun burn.   It was my
equivalent of fiddling while Rome burned.  It was my version of
Atlas Shrugged.  For there is no
greater torment than knowing what must be done, but being powerless to do anything about it.

While feeling the waves on my feet as I walked along the shore President Barack Obama let the
Iranian people know through weeks of neglect that their cry for freedom went unheard.  In fact, it
appeared the prospect of people achieving freedom from tyranny was positively counterproductive.
By the same token a would be dictator found quick moral support in Honduras from America, one
time champion of liberty.  The contrast between the two spoke to the soul of our President and his
party.

North Korea showed promise of launching an inter continental ballistic missile in the direction of
Hawaii on the Fourth of July in a saber rattling move to either provoke tribute payments from the
Democratic run state department, or to show military customers in third world nations that the paper
tiger U.S. was impotent.  Our officials responded with confident boasting that our anti ballistic missile
system was fully capable of defeating the threat.

I did not choke on the hypocrisy of our liberal leaders who had fought tooth and nail to defund anti
ballistic missile programs for the past twenty years since they first heaped derision on the idea put forth
by Reagan.  “Star Wars” was the tag line wags put on the program. Now a reality, they sought to take
credit where none was deserved.  Had they had their way originally there would be no defense against
North Korean missiles.

Instead, I had a hamburger at a family picnic and enjoyed a beautiful day on the back deck of a
house in Delaware. In this I was not much different from many others as about thirty of the White
House Press Corps had an off the record secret picnic at the White House with the President. They
probably chowed down on something more…haute cuisine than hamburgers while they were
serenaded by the Foo Fighters and smiled and cozied up to the White House officials.  The incestuous
relationship between Socialism and the press continues unabated whether watched or ignored.

Two days later I snuck off to the beach with the wife while the children stayed with the
grandparents.  After the holidays the bustling crowds were gone and the state beach was relatively
uncrowded.  Seagulls stood on the sand and waited for the tide to change only stepping aside as I left a
single trail of footprints in the damp sand.  The breeze was from the ocean keeping away the heat of
the day while in Washington the President and Congressional Democrats went after the F-22 fighter
program in an effort to kill it dead, dead, dead.  This fighter is decades ahead of anything any other
nation has, therefore it is an unfair advantage.  By killing the money for this fighter, that would ensure
American air superiority in any future conflict, more money can be spent in unaccountable ways in
payoffs, social programs, vote buying, and waste.  Meanwhile those in the service can expect a level
playing field in a conflict as any advantage the United States Military has will be removed prior to their
being sent in harms way.

Like the Carter years killing the B-1 bomber now used in Afghanistan, perhaps the F-22 can be
brought back in the future by an a conservative administration that likes America and the military. That
is, unless the technology is given to those who would oppose or destroy us as was given to the Chinese
by the Clinton era Democrats when missile technology was transferred for campaign contributions.
Such a gift allowed the Chinese to have workable ICBM’s that could reach America and a space
program that is well on the way to ensuring the first permanent base on the moon is Chinese. A two-fer
they had never achieved before.

Taking a break from the ocean but still seeking water like a seal, we spent the day at a water park
where the kids flew down water slides like the last polar bears on the last ice bergs. Cap and Trade that
would kill our economy and drop our position from that of first in the world to decaying failed state
progressed nicely in the press and the legislation. Companies that had been previously contacted to help
found a free press to inform the people, presumably spent millions to smiling lobbyists who glad
handed them and then had lunch with other lobbyists who had taken the money from the rich socialists
wanting to pass cap and trade.  Perhaps one or two were at the water park having their meetings by
Blackberry before slipping out of the park to their Mercedes and Lexus cross overs with the "Hope and
Change" bumper stickers.

Thursday was the day to travel.  We decided to do the entire stretch from Richmond Virginia to
Kansas in one drive.  Our President, meanwhile had found something he had forgotten to apologize to
the world about America.  Not a big fan of our nation, our president has apologized for just about
everything about this country. This time it was for not doing enough to fight the non existent problem
of man made global warming. He apologized for us and all past administrations and dedicated the
destruction of our economy to the rise of China and India who have no intentions of doing anything
but building their economies as fast and as hard as possible, pollution and the world be damned.  They
are no suckers. They are no liberals.

What was noted on the trip was the lack of trucking.  Liberalism was working.  No production. No
growth.  No manufacturing. No jobs.  All this is a green version of heaven.  There is no need to ship
anything if everyone is broke and out of work.  Rail yards are choked full of train cars.  Singapore is
choked with ships that don’t go to sea. Ports are full of shipping containers sitting empty and rusting
The highways are emptying of trucks.  It is the illness of a decaying civilization.  Oh, did you know it
was inherited?  That is the new mantra of the incompetents and the malicious.

When 9/11 happened the demand was that it happened on Bush’s watch!  No allowance was given
that the prior eight years had decimated the military, the intelligence services, and that Bush had
already been dealing with the crisis of the ramming of a surveillance plane in international waters by the
Chinese and the hostage taking of the crew.  Nope. The Progressives yelled 9/11 was his, not Clinton
and Gorelick's.  Now? Oh, well, now is different. The parasites are in charge.   Every problem, no
matter how small, is pushed back to the past administration.  Even though there isn’t a problem that
hasn’t been made imaginably worse by the actions of the anti American progressives running the
country for the past seven months, it is now "inherited."

We are not done yet, not by a long shot.  America has sunk to having only 140 companies on the
Forbes 500 list, the lowest on record.  The Progressives in Congress are getting ready to tax the
country into slavery on everything from energy to health care and “Tax the Rich” is simply the
replacement for “From each according to his ability to each according to his need.”  The nation of the
free individual is being replaced by the primacy of the state before our eyes.

Pulling into the driveway at the end of the long drive it was nice to be home.  The dogs and the cats
were ecstatic despite two weeks with a phenomenal pet sitter’s devotion.  Familiar furniture,
bookcases, bathrooms, all gave comfort despite the knowledge that it was time to renew the effort to
preserve the nation in greatness despite the terrible odds against it.

The promise of America is the promise of the individual and individual liberty.  How can you give up
on that?
