The One Eyed Man
Erasmus was wrong. The one eyed man does not become king in the kingdom of the blind.
Instead he went insane talking about things no one saw or felt the need to see. As we get closer to
the fall people are being pushed to their limits trying to cope with living within their means while
prices on everything from food to energy sky rocket.
Who is to blame? Well, the Senate and the Congressional leaders comprised of Democrats blame
'Big Oil'. They call for more taxes on oil to punish the oil companies. But anyone with the least bit
of interest can quickly find out that retirement funds, investment funds, mutual funds, your funds,
own most of the oil companies. So not only will such measures not produce one more barrel of
crude, it will be one more way of hitting you in the pocketbook.
All those Starbucks drinking liberals are starting to feel the pinch. A major change in the public
mood has become "Drill now, Drill here!". Reality has taken a bite out of liberalism's fantasy
approach to the world. While we dither and pay the rest of the world is divvying up the resources
available and making sure their futures are assured.
So who is to blame? The next time your Democratic representative speaks the buzzword of "Big
Oil" you reply: "NO, it is BIG GOVERNMENT!" Don't accept the leaf bowl in a cage offered by
those who feel they can dictate your lifestyle and freedoms from their elitist perches. They work for
us, we don't work for them. At least, not yet.
Socialism really isn't at home in America. It has made great strides and it even may win the
national branches of government this fall. But it won't be from popularity, it will be from the
ineptness of those that should know better, their opposition. Those in the Republican Party and
business who should be leading are instead dithering and losing and promoting a move to the populist
center. They are the ones to shoulder the blame of our current situation. The left is only doing what
the left always wanted to do. It is hard to blame a socialist from acting as one. It is instead
important to point out those who could make a difference and don't. Those who will not invest the
money the left is. Those that will not put in the time. Those who should set out a clear set of
principles to define their views and then stand up for those views without poll numbers shaping their
message.
As those who should know better grope in the darkness we will use an example maybe even they
understand, the United States Marine Corps. When you think of being the best you think of the US
Marines. Why? They don't apologise for who they are. They are the few, the proud, the Marines.
Get it? Take a stand! Be proud of freedom, capitalism, religion, small government, small taxes,
profits, and prosperity. People will seek you out.
The Quiet Conservative is going on sabbatical for two weeks. In 2006 when the corruption of the
Kansas Attorney General's race was so blatant and the press so corrupt, we developed the idea of
The Quiet Conservative. We wanted to reach the person in the street in a medium he is familiar with
and help provide him with the facts to help him make informed decisions about his elected officials.
We wanted to investigate the stories the press ignored or buried. We wanted to reinforce the views
that America is the greatest country on earth and we are proud to be Americans. Not ashamed as the
LA Times and the Philadelphia papers wanted us to be on the Fourth of July.
Since 2006 we have sat in office after office from the small to the great seeking the means to fight
the creeping rot liberalism is spreading across our country. All in vain. The one eyed man is not
destined to be king. However, the one eyed man cannot stop either. After two weeks of reading
about vampire capitalism, socialism, the Founding Fathers, and how truly blessed this nation actually
is, we will resume the struggle for resources and the push to get into operation. Otherwise, the one
eyed man might as well put his eye out and join the others in the darkness.
...And, that has never been our style.
