                                              Environmental Silliness

Today is the day the Earth is saved. 07/07/07 will now be known as 01/01/00AED (After Earth
Day).  Today former Vice President Al Gore and others brought forth concerts around the world to
stop global warming.
 As a lead in to the article it would be nice to provide a few quotes from our former Vice President;
the man who was one heart attack, or one underage intern, away from being our commander in chief.

“Global warming is the greatest challenge facing our planet, and the gravest we've ever faced,”
said Gore as quoted in an AP article.
“But it’s one problem we can solve if we come together as
one and take action and drive our neighbors, businesses, and governments to act as well.  That’s
what Live Earth is all about.”
From an AFP article on Yahoo, “The planet doesn't have a PR agent,” he said. “But now it will,
because the Alliance for Climate Protection is going to use the modern techniques of messaging to
get the scientific evidence in front of people all over the world.”
At risk of blasphemy to this new religion, it is critical to point out the only reason the planet is here
to begin with is to support human life. Otherwise, it
isn't important. The planet doesn't have a PR
agent because it is a molten cored rock rotating around the sun. It has no more importance than
Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc. other than it hosts us as a life form.  The planet doesn't care if it is
covered in ice, covered in lava, or has an atmosphere. It doesn't weep that the dinosaurs were wiped
out and it wouldn't care if we were, because it isn't sentient.  The planet isn't dying because it was
never alive in the first place. Kick over a rock and find a fossil.  You don't weep for the long dead
animal.
Oh, and the evil oil hated so by the left? At one time it was those plants or animals. Now it runs
our economy and keeps us warm and fed.  Those at the Earth Day concert got there somehow. I bet
it was by car.  Eco warriors then rocked to instruments powered by Con Ed and munched organic
nachos and bottled tap water trucked in by teamsters.  Gaea, the Earth, the third rock from the sun,
the blue pearl,  doesn't care about the animals, or the oil, or the methane, or the coal, or the nachos,
or the concert goers.
This dogma of global warming caused by humans they preach from the pulpit of rock?  Humans
killing the planet with emissions they say?  Hooey.   The climate always changes.  Greenland was
once green and Vikings farmed land now under glaciers.  Romans grew grapes in Britain.  Hippos
once swam in fat slow moving rivers in the Sahara Desert.  When the sun is peaking the planet gets
warmer, just like it is doing now on Mars, Venus and even Pluto.  When it subsides the cosmic
radiation hitting the atmosphere causes more cloud formation, and everything gets cooler. Just like
the little ice age that lasted about four hundred years starting in the 13th century.  Just like it is now
predicted to do in twenty years.  That’s right, folks, the planet is likely to start getting cooler.  Our
climate goes in cycles and no concerts are going to change that.
But what about the long term chances for the planet?  As the Black Eyed Peas sang in concert:
“The world is dying. If people say it’s all right, they’re lying.”  The sun is about 5 billion years old.
It has about 5 billion more to go until it swells to a red giant which will engulf the Earth.  If the
‘billion’ doesn't put the time scale into some understandable perspective for you, let me re-frame the
time scale.  The sun is 50 million centuries old and has another 50 million centuries to go before the
sun swells up and swallows the Earth.  Man has had a written record of civilization for only about
5,000 years, or 50 centuries.  Do you think we will still be here for the end?  For everything under
the sun there is a season.
So, in the vast scheme of things it doesn't bother me that a few hucksters peddling carbon credits
and a few pagan Earth worshipping fanatics team up with college drop out musicians to have a
concert. But what does concern me is when they try to turn that cult devotion into public policy.
The people that put polar bears and cows on a pedestal but demand the right to abort human babies
are so skewed in their thinking that they should be pitied, not encouraged.
Now it's good to believe in conservation, pollution control, a clean environment etc. simply because
we are good stewards for later generations of
humans.  We want our grandchildren to have clean
water and healthy food and trees and grass and we want your children to have the same.  That is all
part of good stewardship.  But not the way these people are pushing us. Not for their reasons.
It was said that at the end of the cold war all the Marxists had to find something new, so they found
environmentalism.  The joke is that they should be called watermelons- Green on the outside but if
you scratch them they are pure Red inside.  It really isn't funny anymore.
 The Vice President’s quote:
“But it’s one problem we can solve if we come together as one and
take action and drive our neighbors, businesses, and governments to act as well.  That’s what Live
Earth is all about.”
is disturbing. Who is he to drive his neighbors, businesses, and governments?
Do you catch a faint wisp of fascism in that statement?  To Americans, it is a stench.  It is another
face of liberalism, or socialism.  It is the group as the basis of rights, not the individual.  Just about
every major crime against humanity has been based on, or justified by, this reasoning.
 However, the United States
is founded on the rights of the individual, not the group.  If a person
wants to drive an SUV and pay for the gas, it is none of anyone’s business that they do so.  If they
do not want fluorescent bulbs in their house, it is none of the neighbor's business either.  Under the
guise of environmentalism we are allowing a slowly increasing control of our private lives by
government.  That is unacceptable to Americans.  It
should be unacceptable to Americans.  The
government is by the people, and for the people.  Not the other way around. Please learn that Live
Earth promoters.  Then take a science course for pity's sake.
Listen to the concert. Have fun with the music. Leave the silly message behind.
