                                                            Thrice Damned

When Dr. Tiller was murdered on Sunday morning, it was like kicking over a hornets' nest. The
infamous doctor was one of only three doing late term abortions nationwide. It is now reported he had
done over 60,000 late term abortions and cleared over a million a year for his labor. To anyone with a
conscience and morals, he was heinous. To the soulless progressives he had now become a martyr.
Filled with righteous indignation those that would not allow life to be defined leaped to seize a political
moment not seen since the Wellstone Memorial.
Before the body of the late doctor had hit the morgue, Mike Hendricks had already held trial and
convicted the entire pro life movement on the Kansas City Prime Buzz log.  Below is his first posting
at 1:42 P.M.

Hendricks: Tiller's killers were many
At mid-day, police were still trying to figure out who pulled the trigger of the gun that killed
Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller at his church on Sunday morning.
I'm betting they'll find that person soon enough.
As for the murderer's accomplices, we know them already.
They include every one who has ever called Tiller's late term abortion clinic a murder mill.
Who ever called Tiller "Tiller the Killer."
The groups who spent decades fomenting hate toward a man who simply believed that he was
serving a purpose by being one of the few doctors in the country performing late-term abortions.
Hate. Not heated opposition. Not strong disagreement.
But blind hatred.
The kind of hate that would prompt some maniac to take a  gun into a church and shoot a man to
death in front of friends and family.
His accomplices know they have blood on their hands, which might explain why they were quick to
issue statements today expressing disapproval of Tiller's murder.
Among them, the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue.
"Operation Rescue denounces the killing of abortionist Tiller," read the headline of a new release
posted on that group's website.
Those words  drip with hypocrisy.
After all, it was Operation Rescue that coined the nickname "Tiller the Killer." It was Operation
Rescue that was most responsible for ratcheting up the heated rhetoric toward Tiller over the past
two decades.
The group issued the following statement today:
"We are shocked at this morning’s disturbing news that Mr. Tiller was gunned down. Operation
Rescue has worked for years through peaceful, legal means, and through the proper channels to see
him brought to justice. We denounce vigilantism and the cowardly act that took place this morning.
We pray for Mr. Tiller’s family that they will find comfort and healing that can only be found in
Jesus Christ."
Shocked? Are any of us really shocked that it would come to this after the many years of demonizing
one man?
And if anyone is in need of salvation right now it's the  anti-abortion movement in Kansas and
across the nation.
The same bullet that killed George Tiller also shattered the moral underpinnings of the movement
that likely inspired its firing.

Normally I do not get drawn in to such bilious nonsense.  But such venom being spewed by
someone ostensibly working as a journalist at the Kansas City Star was irritating at its blatant
dishonesty and vile assertion that those concerned with the sacredness of life were now tarnished by
the mark of Cain.  I registered with the blog and posted the following:

Tiller's victims were many, his killer was one.

Nice try on tarring the whole right to life movement with the actions of one person. However, the
people who are for the right to life from conception to natural death, include Tiller in that definition.
Your dishonest and intellectually bankrupt attempt to discredit this fails miserably. Your post is
emotion wrought desire to discredit the anti abortion movement here and across the nation.
 There is no hypocrisy.
The people who called Tiller "Tiller the baby killer" were accurate in their description. He was a
killer. What is sad is that whoever murdered him also murdered any chance on Tiller realizing this
and repenting.  It is incredibly sad for all who respect life.  Your hatred for them is not returned.
Your vitriol for them is not returned.
The man who murdered Tiller is now no different than Tiller was. The people who respect life know
this, do you?
Either Hendricks did not read those commenting on his blog, or he was so blind in his hatred that he
updated his entry upon the news that Johnson County Sheriff's deputies had stopped and detained the
suspect:

Hendricks: Tiller's killers were many
By mid-afternoon,  authorities reportedly had someone in custody in connection with the murder of
Wichita abortion doctor George Tiller at his church on Sunday morning.
So far, we know nothing about the suspect. Though the motive for the crime we can all surmise in
light of the vitriolic  campaign that has been waged against Tiller for more than two decades by anti-
abortion groups.
And if we're right about that, then we already know the identities of his accomplices.
They include every one who has ever called Tiller's late term abortion clinic a murder mill.

Certainly the group's founder, Randall Terry, didn't seem shocked when he issued a statement that, I
would suggest, provides a truer sense of how the anti-abortion movement saw today's events:
"George Tiller was a mass-murderer. We grieve for him that he did not have time to properly
prepare his soul to face God.   I am more concerned that the Obama Administration will use Tiller's
killing to intimidate pro-lifers into surrendering our most effective rhetoric and actions. Abortion is
still murder. And we still must call abortion by its proper name; murder.
Those men and women who slaughter the unborn are murderers according to the Law of God. We
must continue to expose them in our communities and peacefully protest them at their offices and
homes, and yes, even their churches."
I'd suggest that if anyone is in need of salvation right now it's the  anti-abortion movement in
Kansas and across the nation.
As Terry's statement makes clear, the same bullet that killed George Tiller also shattered the moral
underpinnings of the movement that inspired its firing.

With the first posting of the blog Hendricks could almost be excused. Perhaps he had flown off the
handle, perhaps he had typed before thinking it all the way through.  But with this second posting he
had not only libeled millions again, he had amplified the slur.  By 4:52 PM I had checked back and saw
the altered post. Never impressed with his professionalism in the past times I have seen his writing, I
posted the following:

Tiller's victims were many, his killer was one part 2:

I see you have modified the original post but have not shed your hatred and bias. You would hope
on sober reflection you would have regretted your knee jerk comments, instead you have confirmed
them.

Is that your contention? That a single disturbed person shares culpability with anyone who is pro
life and believes Dr. Tiller was murdering human beings?  So the Catholic bishops are accessories?
Those Catholics that are true to their faith are accomplices? Evangelical Christians that believe the
unborn have the same right to life as Tiller are murderers?
Well, if that is the standard you wish us to use, then what can I say? You therefore are an
accomplice to Tiller, Planned Parenthood, and everyone that supports 1.3 million murders a year.
By your standard you are no different than an SS guard pushing people into gas chambers or firing
up the ovens.
Maybe that isn't the comparison you want to go for.  Oh, there is one critical difference between the
two mentalities.  The pro life people, the Catholic Church, the true believers in the right to life from
conception to natural death, do not approve of the murder of Dr. Tiller. In fact, it is of great sadness
that Dr. Tiller doesn't have a chance to repent and obtain forgiveness. It is of great sadness that one
lone disturbed person committed murder. All should pray for him as they have prayed over the years
for Dr. Tiller. You see, there is no "hate" there as you would contend. All the hatred is on your side
of the issue. It always has been.
The pro life people didn't want anyone to die, including Tiller.  Your side wants 1.3 million to die a
year.  If you want to see what hate truly looks like. Look in a mirror or read your own words.

Time did not temper Hendrick's view.  There was no sober reflection or understanding perhaps he
had gone too far.  As more comes out about the shooter it is becoming painfully obvious he was a
mentally unstable loner who wasn't just an abortion foe, but was also an anti-government fanatic and
had done prison time for possessing explosives.  Facts didn't matter to Hendricks though, thoroughly
convinced of his moral superiority, he repeated his unfair screed in the print paper that carried the
news of Dr. Tiller's murder.
Three times.  Three times Hendricks had a chance to show reason, critical thinking, honesty and
professionalism.  Three times he instead showed the hubris of man who will not allow any view other
than his own hateful, dishonest, and unreasoning adherence to death masked as choice. Thrice
damned.
Tiller's victims were many, his killer was one, his apologist and eulogist was Mike
Hendricks of the Kansas City Star.
