Right Wing Crazies
Two incidents spell out the rising threat of the Tea Party Movement. In February a Right Wing
Terrorist flew his private plane into the IRS building in Austin, Texas, killing himself and an IRS
worker- Mr. Vernon Hunter. The papers and the media immediately portrayed Joseph Stack as a
member of the new Tea Party/anti government movement. Chris Matthews had a man on his show
from the Southern Poverty Law Center to cover the dead man's last manifesto which was posted on the
Internet. All agreed the danger the Radical Right now posed.
March 4th, it happened again. A crazed right winger started shooting at the Pentagon as the following
excerpt from the Christian Science Monitor shows:
"John Patrick Bedell, whom authorities identified as the gunman in the Pentagon shooting on
Thursday, appears to have been a right-wing extremist with virulent antigovernment feelings.
If so, that would make the Pentagon shooting the second violent extremist attack on a federal building
within the past month. On Feb. 18, Joseph Stack flew a small aircraft into an IRS building in Austin,
Texas. Mr. Stack left behind a disjointed screed in which, among other things, he expressed his
hatred of the government. "
There you have it folks, the Right Wingers have gone nuts. Homeland Security was right all along to
warn of the rise of the militias and the danger of domestic terrorism from those white supremacist right
wing fascists. It is high time to crack down on all those fringe elements on the right and ban the protest
marches and corral them up into designated free speech zones so they can't infect the normal people's
march towards Socialism. You don't need to go to the Left Blogs, they are foaming at the mouth even
more than usual.
(Spoiler Alert! If facts bother you, stop reading now.) Neither Joseph Stack, nor John Bedell, were
"Right Wingers" or "Tea Party Fanatics." Their portrayal as such is a blatant, ugly, lie.
Joseph Stack was reported to be a registered Democrat. There is some confusion whether he was, or
wasn't, currently registered to vote in Austin. With so much heat and no interest in the actual facts, this
probably won't be pinned down. What is out there, is his final manifesto where he states his hatred of
the government, America, corporations, the Catholic Church, and most pointedly, the IRS. He ends his
screed with a condemnation of Capitalism and the promotion of Communism. "The communist creed:
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The capitalist creed: From each
according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed."
You can understand how this part never made it in the news or was covered by the TV pundits. You
have a tough time portraying a person who flies a plane into a building to kill people as a right winger,
when his last words promote the same philosophy as the Progressives in the media reporting the story.
By omitting them, you can lie.
John Patrick Bedell, the dead shooter at the Pentagon, is easier to define. He was a registered
Democrat, was anti-military, anti-Bush, a 9-11 Truther, favored marijuana legalization, supported
PETA, and was possibly gay. He was also mentally ill and had been in mental institutions four times. If
you reread the Christian Science Monitor excerpt again, you can feel the disconnect between reality and
news widen. Bedell hardly had a resume fitting for a 'Right Wing Fanatic.'
Finally, let's throw in another case that was not connected by the media to the horrible terrorist 'Right
Wing.' Professor Amy Bishop shot six of her colleagues at a staff meeting February 12th, three of them
died. She was a Democrat, rabid Obama supporter, and committed liberal. There was no mention of
her politics at all in the major papers. What did come to life was the fact she had killed her brother
decades ago, and had been suspected in a pipe bomb incident with another professor. Because there
was no way to tie her in to the Tea Party Movement even remotely, her politics were not deemed
worthy of the news. Especially since she was such a committed Leftist.
So what do all three people have in common? Bedell, Bishop, and Stack? All three were Democrats.
All three were Leftists. Two of the three were portrayed by the media as being rabid Right Wingers,
the third had her politics omitted. In the minds of many who follow the news only by their newspapers
or the TV, Bedell and Stack are permanently fixed as Right Wing domestic terrorists and Amy Bishop is
a mentally ill serial killer of no known political affiliation. This is the cultural imprinting caused by a
corrupt media structure. This is the problem to be fixed or America can never regain its solid footing.
Factual and fair news is vital to the nation and it is not being provided.
What is the truth of Bedell, Bishop, and Stack? Are they "Left Wing Crazies?" Is it the exact opposite
of what the media presents? No, that is no more honest than what the present media promotes. The
truth of it is that all three were deeply disturbed individuals. That, not the political ideologies they
believed in, were the cause of the tragedies. For Stack, he festered on perceived wrongs to the point he
took his own private plane and flew it into a building. For Bishop, it was the same sense of being
wronged. For Bedell, it is unknown. He died without leaving a clear motive or statement as to why.
All three were not rational and if they had received treatment, you might have never known their
names. But they did not seek treatment. Instead they sought out their own means of justification and
retribution for the ills they envisioned.
These random acts were the works of disturbed individuals and not the politics they followed. They
were Leftists, not 'Right Wing Crazies,' and that doesn't matter either. They were ill. They did horrible
things. Innocent people died. The victims' loved ones are left mourning. It wasn't preventable as no
one can guess the future. John Bedell's parents even tried to warn the authorities of their son's mental
instability, but that warning didn't stop their son. These tragedies have happened before and can be
found throughout all of our recorded history. They will happen again no matter what end of the
political spectrum the perpetrators come from. That is the truth of the issue as surely as the truth is that
the media used these tragedies to push their agenda. For this, there is no allowance for illness, as it is
rational and malicious. What is their excuse for their actions? Where is their accountability or sense of
integrity?
It appears they have no accountability, and no integrity.
