Senator Obama Buys the World a Coke
A crowd gathers on the hill top. The sky is blue and the grass is green. Striding forward through the
crowd is one man, a United States Senator and candidate for the Presidency of the United States.
He reaches the summit of the hill and turns to the gathered multitude and raises his arms. In a clear
and carrying voice he begins his song:
“I’d like to buy the world a home, and furnish it with love,
Grow apple trees and honey bees, and snow white turtle doves,
I’d like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony,
I’d like to buy the world a Coke and keep it company.
I’d like to buy the world a Coke and keep it company.”
The crowd picks up the song and begins to repeat it. Louder and louder they sing as they begin to
believe. They don’t hear the U.S. Senator who continues speaking, now in a low voice: “Of course,
I really do want to buy the world a home so we’re going to raise your taxes and redistribute the
wealth to other nations in the biggest world welfare increase you've ever seen. We have to, because
it’s what the UN wants. It is a global tax on America. So, you might not really be able to buy Coke
anymore. You might have to settle for Wal Mart Sam’s Choice, if you can afford it; and if they are
still in business when we confiscate their profits. Also, we’re going to increase taxes across the board
and swell the government immensely as we take over your lives. "From each according to his ability
to each according to his need." Socialism doesn't recognize individual rights, only the group
dynamic...”
The crowd doesn't hear him as they sway back and forth holding hands as they get to the final line of
the jingle: “It’s the real thing, Coke is what the world wants today!” The crowd breaks into
thunderous applause and cheers. Young women faint in front of the rock star Senator. Who
knows? Maybe the Senator is right after all.
A young boy steps forward. “I’m sorry sir, did you say something?”
“Not a thing. Here kid.” The Senator hands the boy a Coke and the crowd goes wild.
The Global Poverty Act, sponsored by Senator Barak Obama, is socialism in a big chunk. Passed by
a voice vote in the House (In September when it was brought to the floor suddenly and passed
before many congressmen read the bill) and approved by the Senate foreign relations committee
yesterday, it makes a huge leap forward in destroying the sovereignty of the United States. It
requires the president to develop and implement a plan to provide foreign aid at .7% of the yearly
Gross National Product. This means we must provide our tax dollars overseas whether we like it or
not. You, the average worker, must keep working harder because Senator Obama has slipped
through a plan that mandates your money be sent overseas. No longer is foreign aid directed by
need or American interests. Now it falls in line with the UN plan that is a global tax on your
paycheck. The UN wanted it and Senator Obama provided it. In a statement from Senator Obama’s
web site dated February 13th: "With billions of people living on just dollars a day around the world, global poverty
remains one of the greatest challenges and tragedies the international community faces," said Senator Obama. "It must be
a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter,
and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America's standing in the world, this important bill will demonstrate our
promise and commitment to those in the developing world. Our commitment to the global economy must extend beyond
trade agreements that are more about increasing corporate profits than about helping workers and small farmers
everywhere. I commend Chairman Biden and Ranking Member Lugar for supporting this bill and moving it forward
quickly."
Just what you wanted. More foreign aid given to third world country dictators. But don’t worry, the
UN will monitor the funds just like they did with the oil for food in Iraq. Or, how about a current
example? The heating oil that we made sure North Korea got this winter to ease the suffering of
their poor citizens was, of course, diverted to the North Korean military. They were then able with
our kind assistance to conduct winter training they otherwise couldn't have done. As for the North
Korean citizens who are freezing? Well, our intentions were good and that’s what counts, doesn't it?
Liberals can’t be bothered with facts or consequences as long as they meant well.

When the Coke jingle dies down in your head, think of this. The war on poverty in America was a
bust. The money sucked out of the economy to pay people to not work was wasted. There was a
great wailing and gnashing of teeth when welfare reform was pushed by the Republicans in 1994.
Heartless and uncaring of the poor they were labeled. In reality what happened was a shock to all
liberals. People went to work and began to have responsibility. The black middle class began to
expand and people were lifted out of poverty by their own efforts. But, being progressive means you
never have to acknowledge your failures. You also never have to learn. We are about to launch a
new “Great Society” This one on a global scale. (A quick hat tip to Senator Chuck Hagel, (R) from
Nebraska who drinks the same Kool Aid and signed on to this socialism)
Senator Obama’s economic plans extend far beyond sending your money overseas. He also aims to
take and invest your money in green energy. That sounds good doesn't it? Until you realize that
green energy means the government, (I mean you,) subsidize the green power that otherwise isn't
economically competitive. Ethanol is a fine example. It is a less efficient fuel than pure gasoline and
you pay to have it produced. You also pay more in all other groceries because of the requirements to
grow the corn to produce it. Every green idiot at the pump who thinks he is saving the planet should
thank you. You paid a dollar more for your milk at the grocery store for his gas at the pump. And,
this is the kicker- Ethanol is harder on the environment! It actually adds more carbon! But you
shouldn't stress that point too much other than enjoy the irony. Carbon counting is a scam to begin
with.
If you want to reduce the cost at the pump, and make America more energy independent there is a
lot easier solution, use our resources. Allow more drilling in the US. Then mandate a single gasoline
blend. Allow more refineries to be built by taking away the prohibitive restrictions from the green
fanatics. We have plenty of resources. We just aren't allowed to access or use them.
Only in America do we take pride in being stupid. One of the reasons oil is so expensive is because
professional socialists, like the Chinese, are buying all they can and burning all they can to grow their
economy. While Democratic officials were patting themselves on the back preventing drilling off the
coast of Florida for oil, the Chinese were reaching agreements with Cuba to drill for the same oil in
the same oil fields. When cruise ships with happy liberals go steaming in the Caribbean on their
Carnival Cruise ships, they can be happy they saved the planet by sailing on a ship burning Chinese
produced oil from Chinese owned oil platforms.
Meanwhile America sits on the greatest supply of coal in the world. But wait, coal is a dirty fuel
that produces carbon dioxide. We can’t do that! Our Governor has declared this a crime against the
planet. And, since she is a kissing cousin of the next rock star president we can’t allow that. We
have to buy the world a Coke. Besides, coal is suddenly becoming expensive. Why? Well, the
Chinese are buying it all up to fuel their economy. It seems in the socialist worker’s paradise they
are burning oil and coal so fast and dirty that it's hard to breath. But no one here in America will
criticize our socialist brothers any more than we did when Socialist Hussein drained the Southern
Iraqi marsh lands or dumped fuel oil in the ocean or burned Kuwaiti oil wells. Oil and coal are fine
fuels to use in socialist countries. It is only in capitalistic America they are bad. You would think it is
the same planet.
Check list by check list, Senator Obama is rated the most liberal Senator in the United States
Senate. That’s quite an accomplishment when compared to closet socialists Chuck Schumer from
New York and Sherrod Brown from Ohio. But it is even more astounding when he makes it to the
left of Senator Bernie Sanders, the first openly Socialist senator in history from the great commune
of Vermont.
From submitting the US to UN mandates, to redistributing wealth and raising taxes and the costs of
health care, Senator Obama is poison for the economy and our future. But people are too busy
singing the jingle. The question is, will enough people stop singing and pay attention to what the
Senator is actually saying in time to stave off disaster? We have nine months to find out if
Americans can still think or not. At this time, however, the safe bet is you should stock up on Sam’s
Choice soda before the line at the collective gets too long and all the supplies are gone.
